But the release candidate has not yet been announced, so these may change at any time. Don't use them until the announcement comes out, because you might encounter a bug that was fixed in the real RC2.

I don't recall seeing an announcement about 5.2.1-RC (presumably RC1) anywhere (I am subscribed to freebsd-announce).
How does one determine whether a RC is "real" or not?
