PROBLEM: I'm able to "see" the printer from the Win2k client accoss the network, Windows 2k prompts for a driver and I load the driver. Windows reports that the printer is "ready", however when I try to print a test page, nothing happens.

Do the logs in /var/log/ say anything useful?

Mike,

Hmm... the /var/log/log.smbd had several of these entries:

[2004/05/21 14:04:19, 0] printing/print_cups.c:cups_printer_fn(107)
Unable to connect to CUPS server localhost - Connection refused

So I added this rule to IPFW (for Cups):

ipfw add allow tcp from 192.168.1.0/24 to me 515

And I re-started cups: /usr/local/etc/rc.d/cups.sh start

So now (it doesn't complain):

[2004/05/21 17:05:40, 0] smbd/server.c:main(791)
  smbd version 2.2.8a started.
Copyright Andrew Tridgell and the Samba Team 1992-2002

I also check the lpd-errs log but couldn't find anything. I've also re-read the apsfilter manual but it really doesn't cover in a detail how to configure to a Windows client network.

Mike
