All- Is there a port out there that can be used to compile linux source code on my freebsd machine?
If you've got the sources, you can recompile reasonably portable Linux programs using the normal system compiler and be fine. Otherwise, look into the Linux emulator, documented at:
http://www.freebsd.org/doc/en_US.ISO8859-1/books/handbook/linuxemu.html
...which will let you run most Linux binaries.
