http://people.freebsd.org/~emoore/MegaRAID_SCSI/ has a daemon for consistency checking and automatic failure notification, a GUI app that does what the BIOS interface does, and a cli app for printing info about the controller and drives. The daemon and the gui app work fine under 5.3, but the cli doesn't.
