Take a look at the new knobs in /etc/defaults/rc.conf for controlling the supplied BIND9.
The rc scripts do a really good job of setting it all up for you.
I got it working...its different than I am used to with the raw ISC source compile...
Since named starts loading configuration from '/etc/namedb/named.conf'
/etc/namedb -> /var/named/etc
then I set stuff up from there...

This may not be the exact FBSD, but its a bit closer to what I use on other OSs and seems to work OK...
