BSD originally meant Berkely Software Distribution, in implicit reference to the University of California at Berkeley. The term never had any legal standing, and when the BSD project shut down with 4.4-LITE (I think that was the last), it had no non-legal currency, either, so BSDI chose to register BSD as a trademark... You can hail them for doing this, as a way to protect it, or pan them for trying to coopt it - your choice. -- John Lind [EMAIL PROTECTED] _______________________________________________ [email protected] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
