hello all, 4500 (steady) though 5500 (peak) is the usual transfer rate i see with my 56k winmodem.
just wondering how the throughput below is possible? (yes, i said winmodem) only 1 process is using the connection... > netstat 1 input (Total) output packets errs bytes packets errs bytes colls 13 0 11604 7 0 424 0 14 0 14549 7 0 428 0 12 0 12912 8 0 484 0 13 0 13005 8 0 484 0 14 0 15664 8 0 488 0 12 0 12150 8 0 484 0 14 0 14216 6 0 372 0 7 0 7445 6 0 360 0 14 0 13185 8 0 484 0 13 0 13029 8 0 484 0 15 0 14415 8 0 488 0 13 0 13079 7 0 428 0 14 0 13319 9 0 544 0 13 0 13049 8 0 484 0 13 0 13461 7 0 424 0 11 0 11882 6 0 368 0 14 0 14216 7 0 428 0 15 0 14640 9 0 544 0 14 0 14543 8 0 492 0 15 0 15716 8 0 496 0 15 0 17164 7 0 432 0 13 0 12964 7 0 436 0 16 0 17216 7 0 432 0 12 0 12912 7 0 432 0 12 0 12912 5 0 312 0 17 0 17335 9 0 552 0 15 0 17164 8 0 492 0 17 0 17431 9 0 552 0 15 0 16037 8 0 496 0 16 0 17216 9 0 552 0 16 0 17216 8 0 496 0 15 0 15716 7 0 436 0 17 0 17346 9 0 552 0 19 0 17678 11 0 664 0 16 0 17216 8 0 496 0 16 0 17216 8 0 496 0 17 0 17353 9 0 552 0 16 0 16173 8 0 488 0 16 0 17282 9 0 552 0 it doesn't happen all the time. in fact, rarely even. however, it occurs frequently enough for me to ask myself (and you) the question. is netstat a reliable gauge of transfer speed or should i be using something else? am i just lucky sometimes? ;) thanks for any clarification. cheers, epi _______________________________________________ freebsd-questions@freebsd.org mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-questions To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[EMAIL PROTECTED]"
