I wouldnt say many, there are few commiters who are actually paid to work on it, most commiters/developers do it as a hobby.

...but there is a mighty long list who would love to get paid to work on FreeBSD! :-) Many of us are paid to work on some Linux machines, and I think it would be much much nicer if we could convince our employer to go with FreeBSD instead.
