Hello, I do not think the problem is the one from 3 and a half years ago. Much more recently the make world DESTDIR= function was broken. It did not work in 5.3-RELEASE and was bug-fixed afterward. See the thread at http://lists.freebsd.org/pipermail/freebsd-questions/2004-November/063925.html (URL may have wrapped) for more details. You should cvsup to 5.3p5 and try again.
