Do you make a kernel rebuild after patched?
i use custom kernel and rebuild it after freebsd-update

pppoe-server# uname -a
FreeBSD pppoe-server.expressnikopol.net.ua 8.0-RELEASE-p1 FreeBSD
8.0-RELEASE-p1 #2: Fri Dec  4 15:10:18 EET 2009
[email protected]:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/PPPOE  amd64
