Hi, trying to figure out how 8.0-RELEASE-i386-memstick.img was made, with a view to, well, knowing how it's done, so perhaps I could do some more.
I've been studying release(7) and src/release/* for a while now, over a few releases. I've learned a lot, and while there's plenty I've skimmed over the finer detail, I have some sort of grip on how floppy, cdrom and dvd ISOs are made, but can't see how the memstick images were generated.
