because of the trees, you lost the forest :-)

        service -e lists enabled services in the order they would be executed.
                   ======================

since most ports (and I would like to say all), use : ${xxx_enable=no}, then
service -e will give false positives since the scripts are not loaded.

adding the -v could be more verbose, but the message should go to tty.
