The drive apparently aborts the write, however this cant be the first operation to it, so something else might have happend before this. On my (granted UP AMD64) it works like a charm, so does it on x86 so the driver is not completely broken at least :)
Get me the output from dmesg so I can see whats under the hood, might help explain things.
