When I tar -xzvf file.tar.gz -C/d the machine freeze completely and instantly after extracting the first file. I tried different option no chance. No error msg nothing. I used then gtar on the same file created with tar -c and it worked.
It is amd64 with smp kernel. The tarball is 2.4G .
