Perhaps, entering single-user mode.

Add this lines to your kernel to help debug problem.

makeoptions     DEBUG=-g
options         KDB
options         DDB
options         GDB
options         INVARIANTS
options         INVARIANT_SUPPORT
options         WITNESS
options         WITNESS_SKIPSPIN
