It is working now, I upgraded to:
FreeBSD 10.1-PRERELEASE #4 r270991M: Tue Sep 2 22:18:28 PDT 2014
The guest that failed to boot was the freshest 14.04.1.
For some odd reason, nmdb was not part of 10.1-PRERELEASE, so my boot
scripts failed. Doh. The fix:
cd /usr/src/sys/modules/nmdm/ && make depend && make obj && make install
Why in tarnation does 10.1-PRERELEASE have the joy.ko and no nmdm.ko? ;)
