I get this panic when I add vtnet0 to a bridge.
I created a PR for this
(https://bugs.freebsd.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=200210) and will look
into it.

tap will work, though, I suspect you're using vtnet to retain a
config'd IP address when the guest exits ??
