With plain FreeBSD you would checkout the source from svn or git (see https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/svn.html) and you would then build a new kernel with the patches applied (https://www.freebsd.org/doc/handbook/makeworld.html). You will have to ask the pfsense community how to apply those patches and rebuild the pfsense kernel.
