Hi,

Personally I like the "vanilla by default" policy in general. It also
applies fine to lightdm and xfce, since those if unthemed and left at
the default are really vanilla, without an excess of other logos or
sharp color patterns.

At the same time creating a port only for default theming to adapt to an
unwritten policy looks a little bogus to me.

So my opinion in this case it would be ok to add some theming to the
lightdm-gtk-greeter port by default, but keeping it very light and
simple. I'd avoid too colorful backgrounds or high contrast in color
choices, and just add some unobtrusive FreeBSD images around, like the
ball with horns we voted as official, maybe in a bland red or some
grey/blue.

I'm saying this about colors because I don't think that slamming a lot
of red as a default theme is a good idea, especially because there is a
question of personal taste, so to not hit anyone hard in the eyes bland
and simple things are preferable.
