O ls diz sim o tamanho do arquivo, da man page dele:
-h When used with the -l option, use unit suffixes: Byte, Kilobyte,
Megabyte, Gigabyte, Terabyte and Petabyte in order to
reduce the
number of digits to four or fewer using base 2 for sizes.
Dizer quanto o arquivo ocupa no disco mesmo ele não vai dizer mas vai
dar o tamanho do arquivo, como mostra a man page dele acima.
