Rapaz .. tenho utilizado ulçtimamente o pkg install para mim
não é a melhor coisa do mundo, mas pelo menos não tenho que esperar
a compilação dos pacotes. qual é o freebsd que esta rodando? o 10.1 ou
-current?

Otacilio, eu não lembro mas acho que vc tem que instalar com a chave
NEWXORG="YES" no make conf. porque ele irá utilizar o vt e o Mesa mais
novo. como uso current o meu X org já o mais novo
