As reported recently, the HyperCard version of FreeGUI
is nearly fully-functional. You launch it such that
FreeGUI's stacks becomes stacksInUse, then you open
the stack(s) that you want to browse with this
alternative GUI. All of the dialogs will not be HC's
native dialogs. They will instead be editable HC
stacks. The MetaCard version of FreeGUI, OTOH, merely
emulates each dialog separately because the final
integrative work is still pending.

FreeGUI has not been updated in the last several
weeks, but it is about to get another shot-in-the-arm.
I will be focusing mainly on the MetaCard version, in
order to make FreeGUI into usable GUI for MetaCard (ie
integrate all of the separate parts into one workable
whole). At this point, people will be able to use
MC-FreeGUI as they would HyperCard 2.2.

The next step will be to integrate MC's native-colour
into FreeGUI, and Quicktime too, such that we will
have the equivalent of HyperCard 2.4.1 -- without
ColorTools!

Beyond that, we have to have some serious discussions
on which MetaCard-specific features that we want to
include in FreeGUI (and when). There is no lack of
options! :)

Howdy y'all,

Alain Farmer
