Sadly, my summer holidays have come, gone and long been forgotten. I now have product releases coming out the wazoo with my paid work. I'm getting little bits of time here and there to work on FreeCard, though as has pretty much always been the case with FreeCard, development is excruciatingly slow. Eventually we'll get there though. (Side note: I'd really like a fully functional MetaCard to XML exporter - it would make developing FreeCard a heck of a lot easier) >> Nevertheless, my question to this list is: is there any ver- >> sion of FreeCard (or similar) which I may download and try >> out? I would not worry too much about having to write some >> Java classes in order to add GUI elements or other features, >> but I would like to see an environment which I could use for >> scripting... >> >> Is there anything like that already available? Unfortunately we're quite a long way off something you can use for scripting because we haven't started work on the scripting engine at all (ie: the hypertalk interpreter). What I'm currently working on is the environment, particularly the "rendering engine" (I guess) that lays out and displays the various components (buttons, fields etc). It's coming along quite well actually though not supporting the full collection of options HyperCard has, it probably already has enough to be useable. Soon I'll start working on the code to allow editing of stacks in FreeCard (moving components around on the page, creating components etc) without having to directly edit the XML file format. If you know Java and would like to add GUI elements, that would be fantastic as it's completely componentized it's very easy to split off that task. Let me know if you can help out this way and I'll see what I can do to get you started.
