Details:
Now in every translation of freeciv all names are given in english (Bordeaux,
Ashoka etc). For latinic-based languages it's not a problemme in most times
coz english uses native alphabet to write foreign names (Gävle,
Székesfehérvár etc). But it's a huge trouble with that languages, which
traditionally translates every geographic or person's name, for example
russian or bulgarian.
Why the heck i read "Petr the Great" instead of "Пётр Великий"??
+, all foreign names must be translated too (Евле [Yevle],
Секешфехервар [Sekeshfehervar] etc). By the way, some names of
cities should be translated in some latinic languages, for example London is
Londres in portuguese and Londyn in polish etc.
So, can u add some functionality for normal translation?
I know, there are lots of nations and lots of cities, but full translation is
required only for few languages. Sometimes human is not required for this
work: some simple lists could be transliterated using special script, most
times it's easy implementable for cities' names of young nations with normal
graphic system, like Papua, Mali, Nigeria etc.
Something could be processed using wikipedia's interwikis.
However, this feature wouldn't disturb anyone.
