I didn't actually commit to a course of action (much like my playing style ;) I think of [W] as a harmless, do-nothing key, and [SPACE] as a commit-to-something key (because once you've dismissed a unit with [SPACE] it's a pain to retrieve it). Which suggests my first option -- [SPACE] once clears the orders, a second time dismisses the unit.
