Well, even if nobody has tested the patch on Windows, it cannot not fix the
exact bug reported. :-)
When you have no reference to gethostbyname2() in code, references to it
cannot cause any problems.
Attached is trunk version of the patch updated against latest svn. Earlier
"trunk" version still applies cleanly to S2_3.
