Currently:
- City centers always get roads when city is built, and railroads if city
founder knows relevant tech. Roads are also upgraded to railroads when owner
discovers relevant technology, or city is conquered by player who has relevant
technology.
Terrain does not affect this. Even if roads cannot be normally built on
terrain city is on, city gets the road. This applies also to river tiles when
owner does not know Bridge Building
- Roads are always removed from tile when tile is transformed to oceanic
terrain. This happens even if tile is city center and ruleset allows ocean
tiles so that city itself is not removed
- Roads are not removed for any other terrain changes even if roads cannot be
built on new terrain
- Roads are never removed when city is removed
I'm working on changing this so that even city centers cannot get roads
better than terrain allows. That's quite big and complicated change, and even
rule change, so I don't think it should go to stable branches.
This ticket is about fixing immediate bugs on the idea that city centers
always getting the road itself is a feature, not a bug. With attached patch:
- Roads are removed from terrains that cannot support them when city is
removed
- Roads are not removed when city center is transformed to ocean
- Roads are removed when non-city-center tile is changed to terrain that
cannot support them.
