Details:
See attached savegame/image from trunk r20250. North pole is a triangular
wedge, south pole is absent, and land distribution looks wonky.
Seems to have come in with patch #2943 (haven't checked which commit).
(Ignore the fact that the PNG image itself is tipped on its side; that's bug
#17826 in the mapimg stuff.)
