Where can you read that? What version of Freeciv are you using?
Currently, the game ends when 'endturn' is reached (note it's no more a year,
but a turn number). 'endturn' is a server setting you can see typing "/show
endturn" or "/help endturn" in the chat line. You can also set it with "/set
endturn 100" e.g.
