Follow-up Comment #4, patch #5704 (project freeciv):

_Can you elaborate a little about how you think the Freeciv-web context menu
can be improved?_
The Freeciv-web context menu is, in my view, the best we have. If making the
context menu right click only is an improvement or not depends on how much you
value saving time for experienced users compared to how much you value making
it easy to discover how to play for new users.

The usability cost of changing to a right click only context menu is that it
makes it a bit less usable for new (and causal) users that don't try to right
click and users that expects left click to do something else. Another cost is
that it would require a work around for platforms that don't support right
clicking.

The usability gain of having the context menu only on right click is that it
frees up left clicking so experienced users can do a common thing faster. When
I click a city I almost always do it to get the city dialog. When I'm
presented with the context menu I have to look at it, find the "Show city"
menu item, start moving my mouse in its direction, stop moving the mouse when
the pointer is above it and then click it using my mouse. Being able to just
left click is a gain for experienced users no matter if they have played
regular Freeciv or not.

In the case of people used to the other Freeciv clients saving those clicks
has a higher value. The other Freeciv clients have trained their brains to
estimate how long opening up a city dialog should take. The small amount of
extra time required to choose "Show city" causes their brains to loudly
announce that THIS! IS! TO! SLOW!

So changing to "left click does common stuff" is a loss for some new users, a
small gain for experienced Freeciv-web users and a gain for Freeciv users
playing Freeciv-web.
