Follow-up Comment #1, bug #24030 (project freeciv):
Works for me, with S2_5 (r30455), S2_6 (r30454), trunk (r30453).
The distinction is subtle (particularly through fog-of-war) but there.
(In fact Lake can be seen directly abutting Ocean at e.g. the mouths of the
Elbe and Thames.)
