Summary: Received packet PACKET_PLAYER_READY(11) from non-player connection Project: Freeciv Submitted by: jtn Submitted on: Sun 17 Jul 2016 01:15:08 PM BST Category: client-qt Severity: 3 - Normal Priority: 5 - Normal Status: None Assigned to: None Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Release: 2.5.4 Discussion Lock: Any Operating System: Microsoft Windows Planned Release: Contains string changes: None _______________________________________________________ Details: On starting the tutorial scenario and hitting "Start" very soon afterwards, I got this message and the game did not start. "Received packet PACKET_PLAYER_READY(11) from non-player connection Jacob N from [machine's hostname]." I haven't failed to get 'hack' access or similar (see below). I suspect what's happened is that the client reacted to my pressing "Start" by sending PACKET_PLAYER_READY before it had had a chance to react to the server starting up by doing "/take -". (Possibly the server hadn't even got that far.) The machine in question was feeble and heavily loaded and so slow. Seen with single-player Qt client on Windows 10 (Home, 32-bit). Didn't provoke it with Gtk3 client in similar circumstances, but I haven't checked if it might be vulnerable to the same thing. This is Qt-client for Freeciv. Freeciv is free software and you are welcome to distribute copies of it under certain conditions; See the "Copying" item on the Help menu. Now ... Go give 'em hell! Starting local server...
