Follow-up Comment #8, bug #24907 (project freeciv):
OK, that is a quick and easy way in trunk to prevent new developers having
autoconf 2.64 problems.
I have only compiled 2.5-branch in Ubuntu 9.10, so don't know if 2.6 and trunk
have more autoconf issues. Will try some time later in the future. Maybe I
tried already in the past and that old Ubuntu was unable to compile later
branches, I don't remember.
How about the quadrigraph way of fixing it that I proposed, at least in
Freeciv 2.5, but why not later branches as well? I tested it on autoconf 2.64
and 2.69, works fine on both. Drawbacks that I see are less readable source
code, and that the problem might reappear again in the future as most
developers have autoconf > 2.64 anyway and are not aware of how to keep code
compatible with 2.64.
And how about changing the [if needed] into (if needed) that my proposal also
does?
Could we have both my and your fixes committed in the code?
