Summary: client-qt ergonomics Project: Freeciv Submitted by: gogo Submitted on: Do 05 Jan 2017 17:37:54 UTC Category: client-qt Severity: 2 - Minor Priority: 5 - Normal Status: None Assigned to: None Originator Email: Open/Closed: Open Release: r34751 Discussion Lock: Any Operating System: GNU/Linux Planned Release: Contains string changes: None _______________________________________________________ Details: Technically this is no bug report, just some remarks about usage of client-qt from my personal viewpoint. 1. As single player i most frequently hit turn done button. Also i usually hit view button before turn done if necessary. Now turn done is bottom right, while view is top right. IMHO they should be next to each other in the middle. If i'm correct now there is no means to arbitrarily change button order. Having them in the middle would reduce the way you have to move with mouse. 2. I frequently enter research window just to look up how many bulbs i produce. So i would prefer this figure advertised on the research button. I understand additional info pops up if mouse rests over the buttons, but it's even faster not to have to do so. 3. Messages and chat is in the same window. chat can occupy the whole window, but as soon as a message is printed, chat is restricted to 3 lines, everything else is for messages, even if messages do not need that space. I understand there is scrollbar at the side, but no means to set the size of chat section of window, which, for me, is not acceptable. There should be either possibility of adjustment of chat section or, in addition, a dedicated chat window (like cities, research andsoon). 4. After Ctrl-D, confirmation window pops up. In gtk-client i get rid of this window by hitting enter, which is not possible for me in qt-client, so i have to leave keyboard and grab the mouse. Besides that, i'm opposed to obligatory confirmation in general. 5. In nation window, i usually order nations according to score. In gtk-client, this ordering is automatically maintained in the table after it changes. So far there is no automatic reordering in qt-client, so i have to double click on the appropriate head field to reorder manually. 6. Improvements upkeep is wrongly calculated in city dialog, if A. Smith's trading company is owned, because this wonder obviously is not taken into account. In City dialog i had some problems where i need to find out if it's bug or not. A general worklist editor seems to be lacking, so to make generic worklists the actual worklist of some city needs to be emptied and restored afterwards. What it looks like in gnome/gtk can be seen in screenshot. _______________________________________________________ Reply to this item at: <http://gna.org/bugs/?25415> _______________________________________________ Nachricht gesendet von/durch Gna! http://gna.org/ _______________________________________________ Freeciv-dev mailing list Freeciv-dev@gna.org https://mail.gna.org/listinfo/freeciv-dev
