I have had to move to Java7 somewhat ahead of schedule (it is possible
to install java-1.6.* packages on Fedora 17, but its an uphill
battle), hence the recent warning suppression patch. Now I am
struggling to get a clean run of the test suite. The sound test is
consuming too much memory, and crashing somewhere in tritonus. The
simplifications in svn.9888 help, but there are still regular memory
exhaustions and simple failure to play a sound that played fine on the
previous run. None of which is new. I have seen both intermittently
for some time, it seems though that Java7 is provoking them more.

Commenting out the sound tests makes the problems go away. I looked
at updating tritonus, jorbis etc, however the last commit to the
tritonus CVS was in 2009. So I fear it may be time to swallow my
preference for open formats and try reverting the OGGs to WAVs, which
are supposedly supported natively in Java. If anyone has a better
idea, let me know soon before I push on.

Cheers,
Mike Pope
