There is a default user named "fbx" (but only for SSH / local console
access).
If you want to access plinth, you have to create a user (as you did).

If you want LAN side to be configured statically, you can add a
connection and choose:
IPv4 Addressing Method = Manual
If you want WAN side to be configured statically, you can do same but
settings for default gateway and DNS Server
are missing.

I do not get any HTML validation error, but in fact the update is not
done. This looks like a bug.
I will have a look at this. Seems to be related to the latest
"Passwords now sent over stdin instead of command line." changes.

And then there is the "Domain-Name" thing.
When i enter whicheverhost.sds-ip.de, plinth tells me "Invalid
Domainname"
