Further source review would show that HIMEM is for 386 only, as the check_cpu routine 
shows.  That's been a basic requirement of HIMEM since it was introduced before my 
time.  I don't think it will ever support 286, not do I think it should.  If you are 
going through the source and commenting on it, I would ask that you go through the 
whole source first so you can comment relative to the program as a whole rather than 
pick up on a single instruction or set of instructions and comment on them 
individually.  It will make things easier for you, and everyone working on HIMEM.
