Turns out that BRUN45 expects int 21h, function 4Ah, to return the resized segment (the entry ES value) in AX on successful return. FreeDOS, naturally, leaves AX values to their entry value upon success.
This may also affect bug 1768 in Bugzilla since it involves QuickBASIC. The bug comments mention quick libraries failing possibly due to something not loading at the right address. I don't have any quick library applications to test if it is the same problem or not.
