I was suprised by how many people seemed sympathetic,
even private emails, so I shan't give up html help
completely.

I'll certainly hand over the maintaining of the
help.exe browser and source. As Bernd suggests, we'll
split this from the html files.

Now I still think someone else might be better for
maintaining the html, too. I will be very busy in
future, and it is important to keep on top of all the
changes to the FreeDOS programs. I haven't been able
to do this, so we have a backlog.

Maybe the new help.exe maintainer will also administer
the html, but we put it into CVS. I would be an
additional administrator.

What would my main job be?

My job would be to create a forum for people to make
contributions easily. CVS and html is not easy enough
for many people. I will administer a Wiki -- see
http://www.pmwiki.org/ -- to which people can
contribute their tips, examples, and corrections to
the help files. This is something I have wanted to do,
but it requires a lot of administration in itself. My
main job will be to keep the Wiki tidy and add the
changes to the html files. The wiki will serve as an
additional resource and forum for our users.

Developers would find this an easy way to contribute
their help, and in any case users love that sort of
thing -- look at Linux forums and these lists!

Does all this seem like a good solution?
