If we are spilling our guts anyway. Then I would like to add some points of my own (if you don't mind). The big problem is that most of the tough chalenges have been tackled. I came to the FreeDOS project when the kernel would most often not even boot and close to no of the utilities had been written. That left a lot of work to be done, a lot of things to be thought out and in those old days the project had a lot of momentum. Because people could dream of how to do things better. Now that FreeDOS is aproaching version 1 there are close to no challenges any more. Sure you could fix bug #133555, but after you fixed so many already there is litle incentive to actually do it.
