Not very understand your question. Do you wish to write some "low
level" utility, which will deal with FATxx file systems directly (not
through DOS)? In this case you may/should read FAT documentation and then
study, for example, chkdsk sources. Or you wish to know, how to deal with
FAT through DOS? In this case read RBIL, this is most competent source about
DOS services.
