Hi, updates: The Lemmings 3d "hang at exit" went away. Must have done
something else wrong in my previous tests. Hit the mouse or spacebar to
return to DOS if the last display does not go away automatically...

The Descent DPMIONE thing is confirmed: No matter whether I use the
default DOS4GW or use DOS32A instead, Descent would report more than
3 GB virtual (swap) free if DPMIONE is loaded. But that could be a
feature instead of a bug, because DPMIONE supports uncommitted memory
(e.g. you allocate it but do not fill it, then it does not take any
real space either outside the actually filled areas) ;-).

The Descent DOS4GW "if no EMM386 loaded" (and no DPMI either, of
course) thing still happens. Sometimes it works to fill most of the
space with ramdisks, but sometimes not, somehow depends on which
areas are filled and which are not, maybe? At one point, Descent did
work when I had exactly 7680kB as largest free XMS chunk while 15-odd
MB of XMS were free in total. Descent did then report that it would
use 7364 ext and 9020 virt kilobytes (sum 16 MB, and 7680-7364 is the
DOS extender overhead, I guess?). Was not really reproduceable, it
seems that Descent (DOS4GW "mode") just runs very unstable if no VCPI
(EMM386) is present. Hard to say WHICH XMS properties matter here and
whether that is related to any odd behaviour of the used XMS driver.
