Hey all,
hello Joe, nice to hear something from you :)
I've got a proposed name change for the FreeDOS project. Why don't we just call it the EricDOS project. Because he's practically the only one actually contributing to the project, and I'll tell you why that is. It's not because he's a good programmer who wants to see this through...no. It's because you, Eric, have pissed so many people off that no one wants to work with you and have therefore left the project.
People will have to admit that you're partially right, but by far not right enough to claim that it should be renamed EricDOS or something. For GPL software, such a distro ofcourse can be made, as the license allows that. Yes, Eric is taking hardly maintained programs and improving them. Often after suggesting (repeatedly) the author/maintainer on what to implement (instead of delivering a diff/patch), which isn't 100% friendly indeed. On the other hand he's doing the same thing as many other programmers: writing almost-perfect software, but without implementing 3rdparty suggestions.
Anyone want my wishlist? you'd almost call it BerndDOS then :)
Then again, I realize I can't force anything..unless I write it myself
Why do you think so many of the core group of developers have left the project. It's not because they're too busy, it's because they dont want to deal with YOU. Myself included. God you're fucking annoying.
Some people contribute in silence, some projects are touched by almost nobody. Jeremy is doing a great job at maintaining the kernel and FreeCOM, though he doesn't want to be official main-developer/maintainer for any of these projects, and Michael Devore is doing a great job at improving HIMEM and EMM386. Some projects are left untouched, like HTMLHELP, SCANDISK, DEFRAG, BACKUP, and more.
Later,
Joe

later Joe. As I think this message of yours was caused by EDIT 0.7d versus EDIT 0.82 : Ehere can I download v0.82 from your website?
