Hi there,
Continuing the bugzilla report, the following are reported as wishes,
that is, to enhance the present functionality. They are mostly not
included in the TODO list, but I will include them in the post-list
(that I am going to renew). I simply list there, do any of you see any
of these as absolutely necessary for FreeDOS 1.0?
12: INSTALL: Add package management
609: INSTALL: Translations for Disk and Package description
(translations for the programs are post-1.0)
1021: KERNEL: Treat invalid FAT entries as end-of-chain
1176: KERNEL: Third (and subsequent) floppy drives on XT class machines
1236: DOC: Improve documentation for NLS/I18N
1408: DOC: Pack/index tutorials, info… (perhaps partly done with the wiki’s)
1613: All: Support for modern hardware (sound/graphics)
1652: INSTALL: Make NLS packages be independent, so that you only get
installed the files you need
1700: KERNEL: a QUIET option
1703: KERNEL: DBCS support
1742: KERNEL: Improve menuing
1744: KEYB: Supress BIOS beeping on buffer full (already annotated on my
wish list)
1775: FreeCOM: FreeCOM to self-load in UMBs
1795: DEFRAG: Defrag for FAT32 (included in the general wish of FAT32
support)
1798: FreeCOM: FreeCOM to assume to be started as /P if loaded at boot.
I’d see what MS-DOS is doing, perhaps this happens for them, not relying
on the kernel loop to find and execute the SHELL
1799: INSTALL: Install to detect the partition type in order to install
the appropriate kernel version
1824: INSTALL: Where to get updates from last distro?
1831: HTML-Help: Files>64Kb
1832: FreeCOM: Use alternative file endings
1836: XCOPY: Less disk changes on xcopy /v
1840: SYS: A:SYS B: requires too many disk changes
1851: MEMMAKER
1872: LOGO support
1909: JO.SYS support
