I have re-examined the DIFF file showing changes between HIMEM version 3.11
and 3.12. As I originally stated, the only operational difference between
the two files is that version 3.12 introduced the ability for XMS blocks to
grow on a reallocate API call, in addition to the shrinking already
supported. There is no difference in A20 handling.

In view of this evidence, I continue to believe the code demonstrates that
either NTFS4DOS has an existing error that different memory image sizes can
trigger, or perhaps it uses and has a problem with the XMS grow block
subfunction. Without further information on duplicating the problem in a
debug environment, including possible access to source code, I cannot
provide additional help on what bugs may be present in NTFS4DOS or -- less
likely to my thinking -- HIMEM.

The version 3.12 XMS block grow function in HIMEM has been tested and
successfully corrected an incompatibility with another program which needed
the functionality. Possibly a failure condition exists or was introduced
with the new code, but I am skeptical in the absence of clear evidence of
the fact. If such presents itself in the future, I will make any necessary
corrections.
