I guess I don't understand the short-term benefit this gives you, aside from making the code harder to read. As you say, it would be better to split the mem.c file into several *.c and *.h files ... why not do that? I see that the mem.c from 1.10 was 114k, and the mem.c and mem2.c from 1.11 are 58k and 55k respectively. So maybe you did this because whatever DOS editor you use doesn't read more than 64k.
