Hi Ladislav,

Deskwork is a shareware GUI in StarTrek NextGeneration design. It can
work both in text mode and graphics mode, and it can invoke Win3 /
WfW3.11 apps, DOS apps and DW specific apps. The main criticism about
FreeDOS is that we only have experimental Win3/WfW3 32-bit-mode and
386-enh-mode support. This is why the DOS.HTM page recommends to use
MS DOS or DR DOS. However, it also points to the DW FORUM, mentioning
that DW users there also used DW with FreeDOS and in Dosbox / Bochs /
VirtualPC :-). There is also a collection of DW DOS apps, most of
them quite streamlined to have only the options which are "modern"
and "frequently used", also optimized for 386+/VGA hardware and often
only available in German. They are quite small in disk size... :-).

Another good part of DOS.HTM are the hints how to edit your Windows3
configuration to make Windows3 work on modern hardware, for example
on computers with more than 256 MB RAM or more than 8 GB harddisk.

Eric

PS: Note that WfW 3.11 always uses 32bit mode unless you start
it in limited safe / no vxd driver mode... Windows 3.0/3.1
standard mode works fine in FreeDOS, though. Load SHARE.COM :-).
