Hi Neagu, > The reason I did consider this Directory Structure better is because > I think the purpose of FreeDOS is to develop in time not to remain > in this way.
Yes but it fixes a non existing problem... At most, it makes the directory structure match your taste, while tastes often differ... ;-). > I refer also to graphic server and others thing. Here windows stay better because you can copy > paste a program (including it`s subdirectories and files) and put > it wherever and run it. This is not true. Windows programs also depend on files at central locations (for example the "Windows" directory). You can move your program to another directory, but if you would delete the files in the Windows directory that have been put in the Windows directory when you installed your program, your program will stop working. Not all but quite a few programs have this problem. Of course Linux users do think that the directory structure of Linux makes their life EASIER, not harder. Basically you can put your DOS files into any directory structure that you want :-). If you look at the basic FreeDOS apps, you will see that most programs only have ONE program file. You do not want a directory with only one file in it, so we put all program files in the same FDOS BIN directory. Other files are typically sources and documentation and similar and you could delete them without breaking functionality. > Another suggestion about FreeDOS is that if it can be configured > in order that drivers for windows to work in it (something like INF) > i think that it will be faster to develop and to support wireless and > others drivers that couldn`t be supported before. This will not work - Windows in 2008 is something completely different from DOS. It is as hard to use Windows drivers in DOS as it would be to use Linux drivers in Windows ;-). > Do not forget to view "Message as HTML > if you can so you will see better the structure. I think the problem is rather that you forgot to tell your GMail to "Send message as plain text" ;-) Eric ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This SF.net email is sponsored by: Microsoft Defy all challenges.
