Hello Jim, hello Rugxulo.

Thank you for your replies. I'm sorry for the delay.
I needed more time for this reply.

The reason for my question:

The listed package, v1.02f [2005-04-06], on ibiblio.org have some bugs, I'm
afraid.

Here is the list of bugs that I have found:

    - Error in the the "ROOT-SAFETY-CHECK"-warning-message: After printing the
string a never ending and strange chain of characters was displayed.
The PC seems to be frozen. A "$" is missing at the end of the
      "ROOT-SAFETY-CHECK"-message-string.
    - The "YNQ"-prompt is missing after the "ROOT-SAFETY-CHECK"-warning-message.
    - The "ROOT-SAFETY-CHECK"-warning-message will be displayed even the
specified file
      or directory does not exist.
    - Filelist-Error: At the end of the filelist (EOF) at least a "CARRIAGE
RETURN",
"LINE FEED" or a "SPACE" was needed otherwise the last filename-entry
isn't
handled correctly. DELTREE can't delete it.
    - Errorlevel is 0 (Success) even a file or directory or a filelist was not
found.

There aren't dangerous, but the "ROOT-SAFETY-CHECK"-prompt message ends in a
never
ending chain of characters till the "$"-character is found in the memory.
Now the user believes that the machine is frozen because the "YNQ"-prompt
message
wasn't displayed (but the check for the keys is active, only [Y], [N], [Q] or
[CTRL] + [C]
are allowed.)

First I saw that the last update was taken by Eric. I believed that he's the
actual maintainer.
I asked him and he told me he's not.

So I desided to try to fix the bugs by myself.

Now, there are fixed. But I have to do several tests if all is working well.

I added some things I think there are necessarry (my opinion):

    - Added the error-message "File or Directory not found!". If a specified
file
or directory was not found, this message will be displayed now instead
      of nothing.
    - Changed the errorlevel to 1 if a filelist, file or directory was not
found.
    - Added the message: "DELTREE is in TEST-mode" if the "/X"-switch is given
    - Only in the DEFAULT-BUILD: Added the message "The "ROOT-SAFETY-CHECK" is
active."
    - Only in the DEFANGED-BUILD (DELTREE2.COM): Added the message
"DEFANGED-version of DELTREE"
    - Only in the DANGEROUS-BUILD: Added the message "DANGEROUS-version of
DELTREE"
    - Include %ifdef ... %endif for the X-switch to exclude it if you need.

Now I'm not sure if my changes are O.K. with the open-source licence.
I don't know if the author like it.
I've never written and released a software or fixed bugs before.

I don't have any experience of releasing an open-source-program which the
originally
source was written by another person.

So I have to ask first what's the correct way to release my bug fixes and
changes.

OK. In fairness I try to contact him twice.
