Forgotten while sending the previous mail to the list (in reply to Jeremy) :
Now back from mowing my jungl\\\\lawn,
I'm attaching the tiny FREEFIX.SYS (348 bytes) which is simply
implementing the fix I gave the principle /in words/ in an earlier reply.

Usage : insert a line with " DEVICE= FREEFIX.SYS " in Config.sys
(preferably immediately) after the UMB provider, something like :

-------------------------------------------------
device = movexbda.exe ;\\\ or some other xbda mover
device = jemmex.exe RAM ;\\\ or alternate UMB provider
 device = freefix.sys
-------------------------------------------------

This is a special build for this community, fully functional with due sanity
controls but please do not redistribute as is.

I'm not joining source cause it would have to be made pretty, haveve the
comments translated
and I have better things to do or at least more urgent now :-( Since it is so
small,
let interested parties - Tom? Jeremy - disassemble it as need be.

Since a kernel fix is under way, I hope not to have to distribute this fix to a
wide audience.
If I had to though, I /would/ provide the ASM source.

Let's see if the email systems on our path let a binary attachment pass... Oh,
and of
course there is no guarantee warranty blah blah; and it is recommended (but
useless,
mostly) to check such a file using your favourite anti-virus :=)

Good week-end to all
